Label Distribution Protocol

• routers run LDP to exchange MPLS labels.

• initially a Service provider technology

Used to establish bidirectional LSP's ( Label Swicthing Paths)

• Core routers forward based on MPLS labels, not ip address

• requirement of any Mpls services (L2VPN/L3VPN)

Traditional network

Birden fazla müşteri olacağı için müşteri ip adresleri ve next hopları çalışabilir o yüzden label'lar ile taşınma işlemi yapılıyor. Aynı subnetten birden fazla müşteri olabilir. Overlap olabilir.

LDP Control Plane

unknown unicast mesajları iletilir. Kurulan Tcp mesajı üzerine.

Ldp routers generate and advertise MPLS label only for directly connected and IGP routes.
